Owen Lewis
Experience
Owen has worked across a diverse range of both theatre and comedy, working with a wide variety of performers including comedians as well as actors, both inexperienced and well-established. I have directed productions in West-End theatres, for national and international touring, and off-West-End and fringe venues - both commercial and subsidised.
- New writing – working with exciting new playwrights, script reading at a number of theatres and companies
- Script development – developed and edited scripts on nearly every new work directed
- Plays - Modern stage comedies
- Classical theatre (Shakespeare, Gorky, Wilde, etc)
- Working with Stand-up Comedians – Stewart Lee, Jenny Éclair, Scott Capurro, Simon Munnery, Miles Jupp
- One-man shows -- often with performers working in a new discipline: Suggs, Hardeep Singh Kohli, Toby Young
- Sketch comedy – script editing and directing
- Adaptations of productions from a different medium: How To Lose Friends & Alienate People (Book), Grumpy Old Women (TV), At Home With Mrs Moneypenny (FT column)
"Owen’s attention to detail, be it script or performance is faultless. I would almost certainly not be touring 2 live shows and had 3 Edinburgh Fringe runs without him" - Hardeep Singh Kohli
"Owen has a real knack for knowing what’s funny and what works" - Suggs
"He’s really sharp. I’d jump to work with Owen again" - Jenny Eclair
